Chairman of Agribank received Governor of Haiti Central Bank

On the afternoon of January 19, 2018 Haiti Central Bank delegation led by Mr. Jean Baden Dubois - Governor of Haiti Central Bank visited Agribank. The delegation was received by Mr. Trinh Ngoc Khanh - Chairman of Agribank Board of Directors, Mr. Pham Toan Vuong - Deputy General Director of Agribank and leaders of several functional departments, centers at Agribank Head Office.
Other members of the delegation were Mr. Jean Lesly Benoit, Head of Mission of the Embassy of the Republic of Haiti in Vietnam, members of the Central Bank of the Republic of Haiti, Executive Board of Natcom, and representatives of Viettel Group.
At the meeting, Chairman of Agribank Board of Dirctors introduced about Agribank's establishment, development, successes and difficulties, challenges and achievements in implementing the policies of the Party, the Government and the State Bank of Vietnam on programs and policies for agricultural and rural development.
Over 30 years of establishment, Agribank has always been the leading commercial bank in Vietnam in the agricultural and rural market. It is the only commercial bank owned by the State and the leading bank in the banking system of Vietnam in terms of total mobilized capital, branch network, and number of employees. With the support of the Party, the Government and the State Bank of Vietnam and the drastic innovation in business and administration, in 2017, Agribank achieved comprehensive results in all aspects.
Apart from the commercial business of a commercial bank, Agribank also performs the political tasks of the Party, the policies of economic development of the Government.
As of December 31, 2017, total assets of Agribank reached nearly VND 1 million 200 thousand billion, mobilized capital reached nearly VND 1 million 100 thousand billion; total outstanding loans to the economy reached nearly VND 900 trillion, of which the proportion of outstanding loans for agriculture and rural areas was 73.6%; profit before tax reached VND 5,018 billion (the highest ever), an increase of 19.9% compared to 2016.

Agribank's network covers the whole country with nearly 2,300 branches, transaction offices and 01 branch in Cambodia; with nearly 40,000 employees with high professional qualifications and market knowledge, especially in agriculture and rural areas. In particular, Agribank has piloted mobile bank branches with 68 specialized vans equipped with the necessary means of transaction to ensure the provision of most banking products and services. Agribank has the correspondent banking relationship with nearly 900 correspondent banks in nearly 90 countries and territories.
Wishing to set up a commercial bank for agriculture and rural areas, Governor of Haiti Central Bank discussed and learned more about the establishment process as well as the experience of working in the agricultural sector; the advantages and disadvantages faced by Agribank; capital to meet the financial needs of the people; the process of formulating and proposing the establishment of the Bank for Social Policies, risk insurance in the field of agriculture and rural areas.
At the meeting, Agribank Chairman expressed hope that in the coming time period, the cooperation between the Haiti Central Bank and Agribank will become more comprehensive and deepened with many opportunities for co-operation and development especially in the field of strength of both sides, i.e. agriculture and rural areas.
