Tea price hits record level



The average price of tea for export in Vietnam has reached a record high of US$1,340 per tonne.

Figures from the Vietnam Tea Association (VITAS) showed that in the first five months of 2010, the industry exported 45,000 tonnes worth US$62 million, a year-on-year increase of 1.3% in quantity and 30% in value.

Decree 61/2010/ND-CP on preferential policies and investment support for enterprises, which will become effective from July 25, also says that support will include market development, consultancy support, application of new technology and transport subsidies.
