The General Statistics Office of Vietnam (GSO) has announced that the consumer price index (CPI) rose by 1.86% in November against the previous month and by 11.9% in comparison with November, 2009. The YoY CPI increased 9.58% against December, 2009.

The price of food and catering services registers the highest increase by 3.45%, of which the price of food, foodstuff and dining-out service rose by 6.02%, 3.27% and 1.19% respectively. According to GSO, this is one of the main reasons to push the CPI up. The price of the group of housing and construction material saw the second highest rise of 1.74% as compared to October, 2010. After two consecutive months of registering the highest increase, the group of educational commodities and services saw the lowest rise of 0.23%. The group of postal services is the only one to register a decline of 0.03% in the basket of commodities. The fluctuation also made the price of gold and dollar up by 8.67% and 3% respectively.
