In the first 3 months of the year, agricultural, forestry and fishery exports increased by nearly 22%

In the first 3 months of 2024, total agricultural, forestry and fishery export turnover is estimated to reach USD 13.53 billion, an increase of 21.8% over the same period last year. China, the United States, and Japan continue to be the three largest export markets of Vietnam's agricultural, forestry and fishery products.

According to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, the growth rate of agricultural, forestry and fishery production value in the first quarter of 2024 is estimated to reach 2.9 - 3% compared to the same period in 2023.

In March 2024, the entire export industry reached USD 4.85 billion, an increase of 6% over the same period last year; of which, main agricultural products are of USD 2.75 billion (an increase of 31.1% compared to March 2023), main forestry products are of USD 1.22 billion (decreased by 0.3%), and aquatic products are of USD 653 million (decreased by 14.6%), livestock USD 43.6 million (increased by 8.3%), production inputs USD 173 million (increased by 0.2%).

In the first three months of 2024, total agricultural, forestry and fishery export turnover is estimated to reach USD 13.53 billion, an increase of 21.8% over the same period last year; Trade surplus of USD 3.36 billion, an increase of 96.5%. Contributing to this result are: agricultural products USD 7.46 billion, an increase of 31.1%; forestry products USD 3.61 billion, an increase of 18.8%; seafood  USD 1.86 billion, an increase of 1.9%; livestock USD 113 million, an increase of 4.8%; production input USD 481 million, an increase of 8.3%.

There were 4 items with an export value of over USD 1 billion, including: Timber USD 2.32 billion (an increase of 26.8%); fruits and vegetables USD 1.23 billion (an increase of 25.8%); rice USD 1.37 billion (an increase of 40% with 2.07 million tons); coffee USD 1.9 billion (an increase of 54.2% with 799 thousand tons).

Many products have an increase in average export prices in the first quarter of 2024. Specifically, the average export price of rice reached USD 661/ton, an increase of 5%; average export coffee price reached USD 2,373/ton, an increase of 6.8%; The average export price of rubber reached USD 1,462/ton, an increase of 5.1%; the average export price of pepper reached USD 4,153/ton, an increase of 35.6%.

The average export price of cashew nuts alone reached USD 5,329/ton, decreased by 8.6%; the average export price of tea reached USD 1,616/ton, decreased by 2.2%; the average export price of fertilizer reached USD 412/ton, decreased by 9.1%, etc.

Regarding markets, China, the United States and Japan continue to be the three largest export markets. Of which, the export value to China accounted for 20.2%, an increase of 18.3%; the export value to the United States accounted for 19.9%, an increase of 28.3% and the export value to Japan accounted for 7%, an increase of 4.6%.
